Did you know that Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest ever players to grace a basketball court, was also a rapper? Or that pace bowler extraordinaire Brett Lee is part of a rock band and has even featured on a song with Asha Bhonsle herself? Or that John McEnroe, tennis legend, learned how to play guitar from his good friends, Eric Clapton and Eddie Van Halen? Or that Manny Pacquiao, all-time great boxer…you get the point by now.
But why are we even talking about sports and athletes? Aren’t we a music school?
For the last few months, Taaqademy has been hard at work setting up offline centres for music learning across Bangalore. We’ve always been big believers in the concept of in-person learning, and have been consistently laying the foundations to provide more and more students with personalised 1-on-1 classes. The culmination of these efforts resulted in one of our proudest moments yet when we opened our latest centre at the Padukone - Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence (CSE) in Yelahanka last month.

We’re incredibly honoured to be working with CSE and sharing their highly sophisticated and state-of-the-art space and facilities. Music and sports have always gone well together, especially when both are introduced at a young age. Discipline, focus and commitment are necessary traits that are cultivated in musicians and athletes alike. Another crucial life skill that is common to both music and sports is team-work. Learning how to achieve a common goal with fellow teammates or musicians goes a long way in every other aspect of life, too. Music and sports can also play a big role in improving time management skills and thinking about how to optimise one’s practice hours and routines for the best possible results.
Our partnership with CSE has given us the opportunity to place music and sports in close proximity, and we believe that they will be entwined together to create a holistic learning atmosphere. At the end of the day, the key thing is that both allow you to let loose and have fun! Music and sports can be educational and exhilarating in equal measure, and so it makes perfect sense for them to be taught in conjunction.
Taaqademy is now open at CSE to young musicians (of all ages :-). We offer lessons for all kinds of instruments and styles with a faculty roster that is unmatched in their abilities and teaching experience.
