The 'TAAQ' in TAAQADEMY
For those of you who haven't figured it out yet, the 'TAAQ' in TAAQADEMY comes from 'Thermal And A Quarter', one of Bangalore's favourite rock bands and an acknowledged pioneer in the Independent music scene in the country. You can read more about the band here. Bruce Lee Mani (Vocals/Guitars) and Rajeev Rajagopal (Drums) founded TAAQADEMY circa 2010.

Bruce started teaching music in 2002 (while he also taught English & Media Studies at institutions like Christ College (now Christ University), Wigan & Leigh and others). Rajeev has been taking private 1:1 drum lessons since 2007. And this while TAAQ was touring the world, releasing award-winning albums and being an inspirational band for a multitude of young musicians in the country.

The story of Taaqademy is thus tied inextricably with the story of one of India's best bands. And much like how a long-standing ensemble of musicians works, Taaqademy prides itself on its equitable, democratic, fair and 'music-first' culture.
